With Group Explorer, a free tool for Microsoft’s Windows operating system, you can visualize mathematical objects known as groups. This application’s purpose is to make theory classrooms more dynamic and interactive. Group Explorer helps students by providing advanced, interactive visualization techniques for group theory.

Group Explorer is available for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows. The installation file for Windows is 12.6MB in size. Download and run this file for a setup wizard to show up and guide you through the installation process. In very little time you will be done with the whole thing and you’ll have Group Explorer up and ready to be used.

As mentioned above, with Group Explorer you can visualize mathematical objects known as groups. The application comes with a list of groups that are presented as a list in the main pane of its interface. Above the list there’s a bar with buttons for various functions Group Explorer can perform. Above the bar, in the upper left hand side, there’s a traditional File menu.

To help you get started with the functionality it has to offer, the application presents you with a “Welcome to Group Explorer” prompt when you run it for the first time. You are very well advised to go through the application’s help file to better understand what the application does. To put it bluntly, this mathematical visualization software displays Cayley diagrams, multiplication tables, cycle graphs, and groups in an interactive manner.

Group Explorer is released under a GPU license, meaning that the software is free to use.
